Catch-up XP: starting late on the server without falling behind
Whoever is behind levels faster. The bonus grows with the distance to the top.
The problem in regular Tibia
Every server a few months old is closed to newcomers. The new player looks at the highscore, sees the distance, and concludes — correctly — that by playing the same amount they will never catch up with anyone. The server then depends on a wipe or a new season to bring people in, and whoever arrived first has a permanent advantage by order of arrival, not by merit.
How it works here
- Anyone below the Top 20% in level receives a progressive experience bonus.
- The bonus is bigger the further behind you are — reaching +100%.
- Add to that the XP Boost with gold (+25%) and the Boosted Area, which gives +50% XP in the featured region.
- Hunting solo gives +20% XP, the same bonus as a party with a single vocation: whoever does not have a regular group yet does not start behind.
Why it was designed this way
The server should not belong to whoever arrived first. Catch-up does not erase the advantage of those who played more — the top stays at the top — but it turns the distance into something that closes by playing, instead of something that only grows. In practice it is what allows the server to take in players continuously, without depending on starting over from scratch to be attractive again.
